350/365 :: Milo's first encounter with a banana. He enjoys them a lot more now.
351/365 :: Milo looks like a kid here instead of a baby!
352/365 :: Sock eater.
353/365 :: My mom got us a Beco carrier for Christmas. Ivan and Milo love it!
354/365 :: Sometimes you are cleaning another room in the house and your living room is a disaster so you take a photo of the only nice looking thing in the room, the Christmas tree topper.
355/365 :: I was taking Milo's 6 month photos and Farva decided to join in.
356/365 :: We had a crazy ice storm and everything was covered in ice. It looked so pretty but I didn't end up getting a photo. We were hosting a small holiday party for one of our groups of friends and we were busy cleaning and getting ready all morning. The power actually ended up going out while people were over but we just lit a ton of candles and carried on. All of this has nothing to do with this photo except that this is how I fancied up our cutlery holders for the party.
Well, hi there. I hope everyone had a great holiday and that you are all planning on enjoying your last day of 2013! We are headed to a murder mystery party tonight and I am so excited. I might miss on out on a good chunk of it because I will probably have to head to bed with Milo before the party is over but I have always wanted to participate in a murder mystery so I'm pumped!
I will be posting the rest of my 2013 365 Project tomorrow and I totally can't believe I finished it!! More on the project tomorrow and my plans for 2014.
Have a fantastic new years eve and I will talk to you next year!

5 Fave Friday
5. I have always loved these swimsuits.
4. These shoes are fancy. I like them.
3. This stocking is pretty adorable.
2. I really, really like this necklace.
1. Ohhhhh, this dress looks nice.
Phew, there we go! I'm satisfying my urge to shop by window shopping instead. It usually works very well for me.
We started letting Milo try some foods this week and it has been pretty cute. We are doing baby led solids so far and although I feel confident that it's safe, that doesn't mean that I don't have mini heart attacks the entire time he's eating/playing with his food. I try to stay calm though. I think it will just take some getting used to. We started with banana, then avocado then sweet potato. Last night I made a lentil dahl and dipped Milo's spoon in it so that he could lick it off. That was his favourite by far; I kept on dipping it for him! It had a bunch of spices and I thought it was delicious so it was nice that he seemed to like something so flavourful.
Ivan and I have been eating healthier lately, kind of because now we will be trying to feed Milo what we are eating and kind of just because it's good to eat healthy. I already feel like I have so much more energy and my general mood has improved so much. Not that I was super unhappy before, I just feel so much happier now. What does that mean for you? Well, a happier Elycia is a chattier Elycia and therefore a bloggier Elycia. That means that hopefully I'll blog more.
Well, I hope you guys have a good weekend. We have done exactly none of our Christmas shopping and we have a busy weekend so I'm really not sure when that will get done. Last year we went really minimal with gifts for our parents and made a donation to a local charity instead of buying gifts for all the kids in the family (who already get lots of gifts) so we are planning to do the same this year.

I know it's winter but we just booked a trip to Florida so I guess it's ok for me to think about swimsuits.

Last week I participated in a little DIY party over on the ModCloth blog. Myself and a few other bloggers fancied up some Charter School Cardigans so head over to check it out if you're interested! The other bloggers were Rebecca from The Clothes Horse (one of the first blogs I ever followed!), Kate from Scathingly Brilliant and Mandi of Making Nice in the Midwest so be sure to check those DIYs out too.

Photos :: 365 (December 9 - 15)
343/365 :: This is Anakin's suuuuper passive aggressive way of getting Farva to fight with him. He follows him around and makes this squinty face at him and then gets really close without actually touching him until Farva usually snaps and attacks. I caught it on camera so I'm pretty much a professional wildlife photographer now.
344/365 :: Mail to "Baby Milo Mikesic" is probably one of the cutest things ever.
345/365 :: Milo got one of these crazy contraptions as a Christmas gift from his Grampa & Nana. He mostly just wants to put all parts of it into his mouth and gets mad if they won't reach.
346/365 :: Milo will be mobile soon and these tiny South Park choking hazards will have to go!
347/365 :: Oh, this boy.
348/365 :: We got our first really significant snow fall this weekend. It snowed basically all day Saturday and then some of Sunday too. We have a lot of snow now.
349/365 :: What? Is there something on my head?
I'm quickly squeaking this blog post in between Milo falling asleep and waking back up. I think he might be out for the night now but you never know. He usually wakes up a bunch of times before he's actually down for the count. He's cute, so he can get away with it. Oh! He's making noise. He woke up again. At least he falls back asleep quickly! I'm probably not making much sense right now. That's ok, no one reads what I write anyways do they? Aren't you just here for the photos?
Today I felt really happy and I just felt like mentioning it. So, with that, have a happy Monday!

Photos :: 365 (December 2 - 8)
336/365 :: We have had this candle for a few years now and this is the first time we lit it. It just smelled so good, I didn't want it to be gone!
337/365 :: Baby hands and a reflection in the ornament.
338/365 :: This little butt head has been suprisingly good around the tree. For a cat that gets into everything Pinny is not as interested in the tree as I thought she might me.
339/365 :: Little baby slippers on feet that are always in motion.
340/365 :: My spoon.
341/365 :: Working on something.
342/365 :: Just me being a dork.
Ivan has a cold...I caught it. Milo is still in the clear (as of Sunday night). Colds suuuuuck! Other than that things are good around here. I am currently listening to Milo's sleep sheep (on the waves sound, it's my favourite) and watching Christmas Vacation for about the third time. Really though, I keep falling asleep while I'm watching it so I haven't even seen it once. I'll probably just keep replaying it at night until I see the whole thing. What a great movie.
I hope that everyone had a good weekend!

Giveaway Winner :: ModCloth
Milo is doing one of my personal favourite poses here, the fist to chin pose. It's classy and thoughtful and a very good choice for announcing the winner of the ModCloth giveaway.
The winner is...la femme Krystal! Congratulations!

PS. How adorable is Milo's onesie. It was a very thoughtful baby gift from ModCloth and we love it!

Photos :: 365 (November 25 - December 1)
329/365 :: Now that Milo is getting louder I feel like Farva gives him a lot of "what the heck is your problem" looks. Also, don't worry, Milo isn't in danger of falling off the couch. However, just one week later I wouldn't even chance stepping that far away because he has just been moving sooooo much since then. He's also getting better at rolling too so I need to watch out.
330/365 :: Well, look at Mr. Popular getting two photos in a row! We put this bee costume on Farva the night before and forgot to take it off before bed. Ivan saw him in the morning and laughed and then left it on so that I would see and laugh. I left it on all day and laughed again when I came home from the mall and a little Farva Bee greeted me at the door. I took it off then so he could give himself a good clean. Farva loves wearing things. I'm totally not even just saying that so you don't think I'm a cruel pet owner for keeping him in it for so long. I honestly think he would be happy to wear clothes all of the time.
331/365 :: Milo discovered that he could put his toes in his mouth on this day. He hadn't been too interested in his feet until just last week but now he loves playing with them.
332/365 :: I got a free copy of this magazine at a baby expo and although I haven't had a chance to look through everything I saw so many things that caught my attention while quickly skimming it. It looks great!
333/365 :: Milo and I went with Ivan to work on Friday to meet his coworkers. We spent the rest of the day at the bookstore and mall and Milo was an extra fun baby to be around. He really likes to have different things going on at all times so being out and about for the day is right up his alley.
334/365 :: This was the sky right outside our house when we went out on Saturday evening. I had to take a quick photo because it was so beautiful!
335/365 :: Last year I was not in the Christmas spirit at all and we were too lazy to put up our tree. I'm so happy we put it up this year because it is really pretty to light up at night! We waited until December 1st and listened to The Beach Boys Christmas while we were putting it up.
So that's another week of my project and another month completely gone. I still can't believe it's December but like I said before, time is just flying by so fast this year!
Nothing else too exciting going on over here. Other than I got a new pair of pants and I think I will be getting rid of two other pairs that are not doing me any favours. Really those other pairs just aren't comfy because they are too low and I have to pull them up all the time which is annoying. Anyways, I'm pretty sure you were all curious about my pant situation so now you are up to date.
Have a great Tuesday!

Baby :: 5 Months Old
Why is there a photo of Milo with a broccoli, Milo with a carrot and then a broccoli with a carrot? Well that's because I am officially losing my mind. On Milo's actualy 5 month birthday (November 21st) I confidently picked up the broccoli, plopped it down next to Milo and snapped away. It wasn't until the other night when I actually got around to editing the photos that I realized that it was supposed to be the carrot. I even labelled the broccoli photo "milo carrot 5 months". I honestly didn't notice my mistake until I went to add the 5 month photo to the 1, 2, 3 & 4 month ones for comparison. So...yesterday I took a photo of Milo with the carrot but I am far too honest to pretend that none of this broccoli business ever happened so you get the whole story.
The moral of that story is that I've been really exhausted lately and my brain isn't working properly. It's not really that Milo hasn't been sleeping well, he's been not too bad, it's that my thyroid is waaaaay out of whack. When I was pregnant I had to start thyroid medication because it was a little low. I just had bloodwork done to check it and it is super low which would explain my energy level. I just got back on medication but the dose is definitely too low so hopefully it will be sorted out within the next few months and I'll start feeling better because...whoa.
I just wrote a whole paragraph about Milo's day and night time sleep habits but then decided to delete it. This is where I'm at with blogging...I want to share things that are going on with parenting but I know that we are doing things differently than a lot of people would and I'm not looking for advice on what I should be doing or else my child will turn out awful and blah blah blah. I am a firm believer in going with the flow and doing what we feel is best for our family while allowing others to do what they feel is best for theirs. I know most of you out there are really awesome and even if my views are different than yours we can respect each other but I know the internet is a big place and I just don't feel like adding the stress of dealing with people trying to tell me what to do. Does that sound grouchy? I'm not trying to come off as grouchy about it. I'm also not saying that we just ignore all advice and think we are the smartest ever. I love reading different ideas about things and then figuring out what we think will work for us. I'm just going through a period where I don't feel like I need to share all of my business online. I think it's normal to want a bit of privacy about some things.
Also, as you can probably tell by that last paragraph, I feel the need to put in waaaaay too many disclaimers whenever I'm talking about anything parenting related. It's really just a pain in my butt to try to talk about parenting because I don't want to offend anyone who thinks differently than I do about it.
So, with all of that said I think I'll keep it light when it comes to parenting topics. I will definitely tell you that Mom brain is a thing (see the above broccoli/carrot example for proof of that one). I will also tell you that Milo is growing so fast and I can't believe he is 5 months old already. I'll also briefly mention that I think he is a bit of a high-needs baby which I definitely didn't think when he was a newborn. Or maybe he's just a regular baby and I just think he's high-needs because I have nothing to compare it to. Ha! Either way Ivan and I love him so much and baby smiles and giggles really do make absolutely everything worth it.
And in other Milo news, he just rolled from his back to his tummy two days ago and he had his first taste of his feet last night. He is reaching for everything, putting everything in his mouth and just seems generally very curious and interested in the world and everything in it. It is so neat! He seems to really enjoy it when Ivan or I hold him up to the piano so that he can bang on the keys and his previous favourite toy Mr. Moose has been replaced by his new favourite toy, Bluebird. We are very creative with toy naming over here.
Man, I ended up writing a lot and I am too sleepy to go back and make sure it all makes sense so just ignore anything that sounds crazy ok?

Giveaway :: ModCloth
First of all, please don't mind my sidebar. I switched my ad options finally and everyone I used to swap with is gone. If you are one of these people and you see this, just email me a new 185x100 button please. If you don't then I'll eventually email you. Considering how far behind I am on things lately it will probably be months before you actually hear from me but you know...I don't really know what to say about that so I thought that trailing off would be my best option.
On to much more exciting things...I have a giveaway for you guys today! ModCloth is being super awesome and offering one lucky winner a $50 gift certificate. Just tell me what you think you might like to buy with your gift certificate. Here is a little wishlist I put together from the ModCloth Gift Guide. I wouldn't mind finding any of those things under the tree this year!
1. Breathtaking Tiger Lilies Skirt in Black
2. Mushroom for More Oven Mitt
3. Sea for Two Tea Infuser
4. Cross-Stitch My Heart Pillowcase Set
5. Saber the Moment Tee
6. Work to Play Dress in Navy
I will announce the winner December 4th, good luck!

324/365 :: Evening shadows.
325/365 :: A big 5 month old boy.
326/365 :: The view out the front window changed very quickly. Our poor naked tree.
327/365 :: Ivan had a friend from work and his girlfriend over to help bottle the beer they made together. It was so mich more fun doing it with other people around.
328/365 :: Donuts from Cake and Loaf's pop up donut shop. Delicious!

As I'm sitting here typing this Monday night, holding a baby who should be sleeping I have so much to say but I think it will have to wait for Milo's 5 month update post because typing with one hand is super difficult plus I'm really tired and grumpy so I will just end up complaining. I'll spare you and wait until I'm in a better mood.
I hope everyone had a good weekend and a good Monday.
