Ivan and I went from feeling like we have so much time to get the baby room ready to feeling like we better hurry it up a little bit. We will probably have it mostly finished up within the next month but for now here are a few peeks at what's going on in there right now.
We got such a great deal on both of these pairs of shoes. The black pair is pretty small and the greenish grey pair will be for when he is older and can actually walk.
Our diapers are patiently waiting to be prepped. We get our change table on Friday so after that is set up I will wash them and put them in their place. I love the cute colours the diaper covers come in!
Some clothes waiting to be washed. I'm not sure how much clothing we need or even really how big he will be when he's born so it's hard to judge how much we need in what size. We have some basics and I'm assuming we will be able to just pick up what we need as we go along.
Pinny being a little nosey butt.
Crib sheets! These are also waiting to be washed.
These are the fun mirrors that we got. They are thin and just attach with adhesive so we are thinking of sticking them to the sliding closet doors. We might pick up a few more and do three on each door. There will also be a lot more of those little crochet circles and I will probably string them together and hang them somewhere in the room. I am the kind of person who needs to see the room together (all the big stuff in it) before I can decide where to put decoration type things.
I am so excited for this room to come together. I think it is going to be so fun! One thing that I am obsessed with is adding plants to the room. We will be keeping the room door closed most of the time so it will be one of the few rooms that we would be able to keep plants in. Pinny is a plant eater but I'm hoping she will grow out of it so that we can add plants to other rooms as well.
I can't wait to show the progress as this room becomes complete! Today I am going to work on the baby blanket; it is pretty close to being finished! I hope everyone has a great day.

Lovely post, as always :) Love hearing your baby news! Just one thing that jumped out at me: I actually work in a kids' shoe store (in Australia) so I'm somewhat of an expert on little feet! And I noticed that both of those pairs of Converse have hard soles. I know the black ones might end up being the right size for baby pretty quickly, but it's actually really bad to put kid lets in hard-soled shoes before they can walk properly; as they get to a stage when they're starting to try to walk, if they have a hard sole on, it will actually deter them from trying and they'll go back to crawling because it's easier! And so it actually stunts their walking development :( When they're doing no walking at all, they just need a little completely soft leather bootie (or no shoes if it's warm enough!), and then when they're taking 10-20 confident steps by themselves they can go into a pre-walker (which has a soft rubber sole instead of a hard sole - like these little cuties! http://www.authentics.com.au/brands/converse/81229-white ). And then after THAT, when they've been walking confidently completely by themselves for a couple of months, THEN they'll be ready for a hard-soled shoe. *Phew!*
ReplyDeleteSorry if this seems really random haha, I'm just always on the lookout to help little feet!
Thank you for the info! They are a size 2 so I'm thinking that they will probably take a while for him to fit into. Maybe walking age, I'm not really sure. I will definitely keep what you said in mind though!
DeleteTo give you an idea, my boy is bigger than average and was a UK size 4.5 when he started cruising at 13 months.
DeleteMy sister and brother-in-law just had a baby on Saturday! I saw her yesterday, but she was sleeping the whole time. How much longer do you have?
ReplyDeleteOh how exciting! Congrats to them :)
DeleteI have about 8 weeks left! I'm due July 11th.
I'm so excited to finally get a glimpse. I wish those were my sheets :)
ReplyDeleteThe mirrors and crochet circles look so fun! I also love that you're doing cloth diapers, I plan to do the same in the future! :P
ReplyDeleteBabies grow out of things like weeds! I hope baby sticks to one size long enough for him to wear everything. I made the mistake of overbuying my first born clothes and she only got to use things like once before she grew out of it! It's super hard to keep from buying every adorable thing out there but in the end it's just not cost effective.
ReplyDeleteThe room seems like it's going to be adorable! That's awesome that you'll have some plants in there.. I sadly can't have plants in my house because of the kitties either :(
i saw your comment above saying you're due july 11th. my mom's birthday is the 10th so it must be a great time for birthdays. ;)
ReplyDeletei think it's so cool y'all are going to cloth diaper!! i don't have babies but i've heard so much postive stuff about doing that
This looks like so much fun! Love the sheets and love the crochet circles too!
ReplyDeleteI love these glimpse into your little guy's room! How precious! I'm sure you are both getting anxious to welcome your new addition!

The best way to do it is buy just a few things that are Newborn size, but from there mostly just buy 0-3 months. And for your baby shower, make it a point to ask people to buy clothes for him that are 3 months and on, because that will really help out in stopping the overflow of NB and 0-3mo size. But you also have to watch out for people getting too many summer clothes for the winter. That's one of the only downsides. My baby girl was born June 26th last year, and when she was 6 months she had just a bit too much of summer dresses in the middle of December. Hahaha ooooh the complications of baby clothes!
ReplyDeleteWe have nothing in newborn size actually...well maybe like 1 thing! I am too nervous to buy newborn stuff because Ivan is so tall I am kind of assuming the baby will be really long. Also, we aren't having a baby shower so I don't need to worry about that! Thankfully the people who have been buying things for him have been getting 3 months and up. :D
DeleteYou can never buy enough vests/bodysuits and babygros in any size, that lil man will probably go through at least four outfit changes a day!!
DeleteWhy dont you try hanging plants throughout the house. Unless your cat can fly....
ReplyDeleteWe actually talked about that last week! I have the perfect corner in the living room for some hanging plants where there are hanging pom poms right now.
DeleteI kind of wish my cats could fly...that would be pretty neat
super excited for your guys. i love those little shoes & diapers ... awww!! too cute!!! ( :
ReplyDeleteThis is all so cute! What an exiting life adventure you are about to embark on! And hopefully will be sharing with us readers too! Can't wait :) xx

Oh damn! You're making me so broody!
ReplyDeleteI do recommend getting a baby book of sorts, to record every single detail.
It's so easy to forget all the important little things.
I kept my daughter's hospital bracelet among other things and
wrote down everything, the date she took her first crawl,
first steps, first solid food, first tooth, everythng!
She'll be 18 next year and I'll be giving her this jam packed book to treasure.
I'm glad you're enjoying your pregnancy, it's such a beautiful thing.
Oh my gosh, that is so sweet!!!!
DeleteWe got a TON of 3mo and up clothing as gifts and almost no newborn sized stuff. Everyone assumed because Daddy is a big guy, that our baby would be big and grow fast too! Myles was born 5 weeks early though and was only 5lb 10oz, so he was wearing premie size stuff and at 1 month old (today!) he's just 6lb 9oz, so he's still in newborn clothes! We had to scramble and get more newborn-sized things to start than we ever imagined we'd need lol. I guess you can only plan SO much.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet things! Looking forward to seeing the baby room when it's finished! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's going to be super cute! :)
ReplyDeleteThis will be one of the most stylish baby ever! I hope that you also included his outfits later on, in your outfit posts. (Mommy and baby outfit posts would be too cute!!!)
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, but there are not too many things cuter than a baby in chuck taylors!
ReplyDeleteEEEK! Tooo cute!
I love the crib sheets. This is turning into a vibrant room for what I'm sure will be a bright and vibrant baby!
From what I can see, I love all the colours that will be in the room! So bright and fun! Oh man, Seymore is a plant eater. He's yet to grow out of it unfortunately. He goes crazy even if he sees corn husks or the tops of pineapples. He just wants all the green plants!
