Pumpkin Spice Latte
I loooove pumpkin flavoured drinks so I decided to make some homemade "Pumpkin Spice" lattes for Ivan and I yesterday. Oh my yum. They were good. Want to make one for yourself? Here's what I used...
Brewed espresso
Vanilla soy milk
Cinnamon
Nutmeg
All Spice
Agave nectar
1. I used one of these types of things to brew my espresso. (Mine makes 2 cups at a time)
2. Pour your espresso into a mug and add approximately 1 shake of all spice, 2 -3 shakes of cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg and a squeeze of agave. All of these ingredients can really just be added to taste, start with a little and figure out the combo that you like! Stir everything up a bit.
3. Heat some soy milk (microwave or stove top).
4. Usually I froth up my milk a bit by putting it into the Magic Bullet. It tastes just as yummy if you skip this step though!
5. Add soy milk to spiced up espresso and enjoy!
Let me know if you give this a try! I highly recommend it!

I just had one from Starbucks a few minutes ago and was thinking how awesome it'd be to make one at home and save money. I'm going to fire up the ol' espresso machine and try this for sure :)

Steffys Pros and Cons
I had never heard of a pumpkin spice latte till last week. But I wonder, why is it called pumpkin spice if there isn't any pumpkin in it? Or is that a reaaally silly question (in that case, pretend I'm blushing really bad now) :)?
ReplyDeleteIt sounds sooo yummy! But I was wondering the same thing, why is it called pumpkin spice when there isn't any pumpkin? We don't have them here in Australia, just chai :)
ReplyDeleteYum! I'll be trying this! XO, Rae

eeeee this just made my LIFE! I am obsessed with all things pumpkin. I wait all year for pumpkin flavored everything to come out and then go crazy eating it all 3 times a day. We should skype sometime for tips on how to make fancy fall coffee drinks. I'm very new to the coffee scene, so I'm clueless.
ReplyDeleteoooh good idea! I can't wait to get below triple digits in AZ so I can have a hot fall drink :)
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really good! I'll have to try it! :)
ReplyDeleteummm... I am ALL OVER this!!!
ReplyDeleteThey don't make pumpkin lattes where i live, this could come in handy! thank you for sharing :) xo
ReplyDeleteYum!
ReplyDeleteI am vegan so i have never tried the pumpkin spice drinks at SB (they contain milk in the syrup I believe) - I want to try your recipe though! :)
ReplyDeleteI would even like to include it my upcoming vegan fall/winter zine!
So good!! Have you ever tried making the pumpkin spice syrup to add to coffee? I make it every year!
ReplyDeleteMmm, that sounds so good! I'll have to give it a shot sometime soon!
ReplyDeleteI want to try this so badly, but I have no milk! Noooo! Maybe I'll have to stop by the store to get some so I can make one of these tonight. I need to celebrate the two days of cool weather we're having until it gets hot again for another month.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! My husband will love these.

ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to try these out! Normally I stay away from coffee because I don't want to rely on it too much, but pumpkin flavored anything always sucks me in!

I usually add cinnamon and ginger to my espresso drinks because they compliment the flavor so well! For an extra pumpkin-y latte, I would recommend stirring a teaspoon or so of pumpkin puree (like the canned kind) into the espresso. Delicious and so much better for you than the Starbucks ones!
ReplyDeleteWell an espresso machine isn't really in the budget right now but this recipe sure made me wish it were!
ReplyDeleteI just tried this using pumpkin spice tea from david's tea, heated almond milk, cinnamon, nutmeg and a bit of cloves, and brown sugar.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty yummmmmmmy!
